Jon attended The Gilberd School in Colchester, and played cricket for Lexden Cricket Club for a number of years.

He is a keen runner, and in April 2005 ran The London Marathon (4 hours 43 minutes), raising over £5,000 for The Windsor School in Clacton-on-Sea, a school for children with special educational needs, where his son is a pupil.

For those of you aware of Jon’s love for consuming the finer things in life, this may be hard to believe. However, here is photographic proof that he was on Horse Guards after the event having snatched a medal from a small but athletic child, allegedly!

In his spare time Jon follows the national rugby and cricket teams, and drives an MG BGT
