Morley Riches & Ablewhite :: Peter Riches BSc FRICS

By day a Chartered surveyor, but by night Peter plays bass and sings in two extremely popular Party & Function bands!.

Band Substance

Peter has played in a whole range of outfits previously but this has been the most successful and has already lasted for approximately 10 years. During that period the band has played a wide range of gigs including pubs, charity fund raisers, weddings and anniversary parties and dinner dances.

Bookings have even come from corporate clients of MR&A. Lay & Wheeler booked the band for its New Year’s Eve Dinner Dances in 2003 and again in 2004 at the Peldon Rose Inn. Most bizarre was to play for Williams and Griffin’s late night shopping in their department store in Colchester High Street. “It was a thoroughly enjoyable night” said Peter, “but I wasn’t too sure when they asked us to play in Ladies Clothing!”

The play list is around 100 songs ranging from 50’s standards like Lady is a Tramp, through Rock n Roll classics from Elvis, to 60’s pop such as the Beatles, 70’s and 80’s rock (Hendrix, Cream, Free etc) to the modern era such as Cold Play. “We try to play songs that are well known but not too obvious.”

This year the band had a Saturday evening slot at HACHFEST 2007. This is a 3 day music festival in the village of Hacheston just off the A12 north of Woodbridge. As part of the event Pete was invited to join some other local musicians to create a novelty 'Supergroup' and this proved to be extremely succesful. So much so, in fact, that the band has now evolved into a 5-piece Party & Functions band, now renamed 'Boulevard Blonde'!
