This year Morley Riches and Ablewhite have again decided to donate money to Beacon House, a Colchester based charity, rather than send out Christmas cards.

We have decided to make a donation to Beacon House, a fantastic charity which helps homeless people, those in insecure accommodation and those who are at significant risk of being made homeless. Beacon House do this through providing invaluable support services including a drop-in service which allows people to use their on-site facilities such as showers and laundry. They also run a café from 10am to 1.30pm where they provide hot food and drinks.

 A major target for the charity is to help people who are excluded from mainstream society and assist them with finding employment. Beacon House provides classes in CV writing and IT and through their close relationship with JobCentrePlus are able to provide the much needed support and assistance.

 Beacon House also provide primary healthcare and access to health services including physical and mental health support, drugs and alcohol support and vaccination and screening. They have an in-house registered nurse who is trained and able to provide medicines which also helps to reduce the pressure on local GP clinics.

 In 2015/2016 Beacon House helped 550 people and we are proud to support this wonderful charity who make such a positive impact in Colchester.

 They are always in need of donations and if you would like to donate please see their website below. In addition, at the cold time of year they are also in urgent need of mens and womens thermal underwear, vests, waterproof winter coats, winter boots and lined mittens and gloves which you can drop into their centre at Beacon House, 90-91 East Hill, Colchester, CO1 2QN.
