Hachfest 2009
This year's event is between 31 July and 2 August. Friday is headlined by Adrian Edmundson & The Bad Shepherds. Saturday's headline is The Wild Oats with Peter Riches' band Boulevard Blonde on the same bill. www.hachfest.co.uk

Empty Property Rates
Nov 2008 - In his autumn statement the Chancellor has scrapped empty rates on properties where the RV is less than Â£15,000. However, this does not come into effect until April 2009 and at the moment is only set to last for one year.

INVESTMENT MARKET UPDATE 2010

Our third Commercial auction of 2011 was held this week on Tuesday 17th May at The Park Lane Hotel on Piccadilly. We offered 123 lots and at the time of writing have sold 94 Lots, raising in excess of Â£50 million and reflecting a success rate of 76%. So far this year we have sold 255 properties and raised approximately Â£155.7m, reflecting a success rate of 80%, with 48 properties achieving Â£1million or more. Our results compare favourably with those achieved by our competitors and the 83% success rate we averaged throughout 2010.

Local Landmark For Sale
The former Siege House restaurant, now Gastro 1603 is for sale through MRA. The business is not affected. Details can be downloaded on our Estate Agency page.

Ipswich Music Day

These will be required in order to sell or let for commerical premises as follows. > 10,000 sq.m - April 08 ---- > 2,500 sq.m - July 08 ---- All other properties - Oct 08

Morley Riches & Ablewhite has committed itself to reducing its environmental impact and to protecting the wildlife heritage of Essex and has been admitted as corporate member of the Essex Wildlife Trust. In addition MR&A is carbon Neutral in the work it does for The Crown Estate

Empty Property Rates - Special Relief.

Business Rate Relief for non-domestic properties changes on 1st April 2008. Office and retail premises will receive 100% relief for 3 months and industrial and warehouse premises for 6 months after they become vacant. After these periods 100% rates will be payable. CBC say the relief for Listed properties will also end. Charities will continue to be exempt. Where properties have an RV less than Â£15000 pa there is a one year holiday form liability for empty rates commencing April 2009

Emmaus Community Opens

For ten years Peter Riches has been a Trustees of the homeless persons charity, Emmaus Colchester. His role has been to assist in the development of a housing community for homeless people in Colchester. A new community building providing a for 20 people has been completed and opened on a site in Magdelen Street, adjoining the YMCA Foyer. Funding for the development has been provided by the Housing Corporation (supported by CBC), EEDA, Emmaus' furniture warehouse in Arthur Street and a number of private donors. The residents (Companions) fund their accommodation costs by working in the Emmaus furniture recycling business in Arthur Street
