Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
If you’re marketing your property, make sure your EPC is valid and up-to-date.
We work with a local provider to produce competitively priced Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for clients with commercial properties. An EPC applies an asset rating for a building, which highlights how energy efficient it is and the impact it has on the environment. No commercial property that’s over 500 sq ft can be put on the market without an EPC. Although they are valid for 10 years, if you have performed energy efficiency improvements on your property, we would recommend renewing your EPC as marketing will be aided by a lower rating.
Since January 2013 Display Energy Certificates (DECs) need to be prominently displayed in buildings over 500m2 that are occupied by public authorities or institutions providing a public service. DECs for buildings over 500m2 – 1000m2 have a 10 year validity.
DECs rate the actual or operational energy performance of a building against established benchmarks and take into consideration the ways in which occupants use the building.
