We are pleased to report Morley Riches and Ablewhite’s climb of Snowdon was a great success. “Team Dylan” comprising Dylan the Dog, Peter Riches, Sam Morley, Amelia Valentin, Carol Geddes, Toby Morley and Alfie Geddes made it to the summit on Saturday July 7th.
We ascended the ‘Tourist Route’ starting in Llanberis, descending on the steeper Pyg Track. This was just about suitable for Dylan but a challenge for some of the older knees!
The fine spell of weather continued but with a gentle breeze it was just comfortable. We got through almost as much water as Dylan who had the added bonus of bathing in a few streams as we climbed.
Toby and Amelia very kindly kept to a slow pace in order to keep us “oldies” in their sights. However, on the way down Toby ‘pushed on’ in order to catch the last bus back to Llanberis and recover the cars.
Unfortunately we missed the England v Sweden match but updates from other climbers on England’s goals and eventual win kept us going.
The following day some of us managed a bit of zip wiring which was great fun and somewhat easier than the climb!!! Peter kept his feet firmly on the ground as he had an important role to fulfil in looking after Dylan who declined the excitement of pretending to be a chimpanzee for the day!!!!
It just leaves it for me to thank everyone who has donated so kindly to our charity, the Colchester Toy Library. Being a very small charity, they receive no Government funding and this is the first time a business has supported them. I do hope other firms will choose small local charities. All donations no matter how small make such a differ
It’s amazing who you meet up a mountain, 280 miles from home. We were somewhat surprised to meet a team from Holmes and Hills, Solicitors. I think they were a little shocked to see us too!!!
We are so pleased to be able to donate just over £2,300.
